Progeny Produced at Reigate Cleveland Bay & Sporthorse Stud

We are very pleased with the foals our horses have produced and how they have grown.     We hope you like them as much as we do and their new owners do!     If any are available - they will be listed on the For Sale page and have a little note attached here.

Thankyou for your patience while we get the site all updated and pages built - changing formats completely with the website is taking a little longer than normal as we are so busy right now.

Our one and only for this season and likely the last for a while - but wow what a beauty!

Stella is a special girl and is already showing how bold and athletic she is.

She is available to go to a new home now and is such a darling.    Shes been floated, wormed, leads well away from paddock mates and is not herd dependent.

2017 Foaling Results

We have two foals this season - neither of them Cleveland Bays, but both completely adorable, and by Hercules who has now gone off to a new home.

Two awesome colts - one a Miniature and one a Mini x Welsh A - gorgeous kids the pair of them and full of trouble with a capital T!

Hopefully WPCSA - As a Part Welsh - depending on whether I can get Abby reigstered as Welsh - currently chasing paperwork.

Maybe A Miniature/Small Horse/Pony association depending on his finished height.

Born in the final minutes of the 27th October 2017, Trace is one super cute little buckskin colt.

Named "Trace" as he was born on Tracey Dodds birthday, and one of my fav country singers being Trace Adkins - it was rather fitting.   Tia and Mandy think he is rather gorgeous, as do I.    He is everything we could have hoped for and more from the cross.     Abby is being an awesome first time mum just as we thought she would be.

He now belongs to Tia Speight - she received him for her 13th birthday - one very lucky young lady!

Here is the song he gets his name from, and as he is growing, it suits him so well - he thinks he is all that and more.

So this little bundle gets his paddock name 'Thor' thanks to him being born on a dark and stormy night with feral weather.        Tia named him - she is stoked that she got to do that job (ok so she didnt give us much choicce - just blurted out with it lol but thats fine!)

His full name is a combination of things - obviously being an older song name - which is the theme I have picked for the little ones that have been bred here - but it also has a couple of other meanings - one being that with the weather we have had - feral stormy weather - we havent had much sunshine....  and then he is NOT the Pally Pinto I ordered!!!!

After lots of discussions with both Herc and Saffy - they just did their own thing anyhow and gave us a Smokey Black.      Its quite amusing really as the two by Herc out of the Black and White mares here at the time have been Smokey Black.

The one that was out of the Black and White mare that I sold - is a Palomino Pinto...    Typical - but as I have always said - colour is not the important thing - its just the icing on the cake - a perfectly healthy happy baby and mum is what is ordered.

Baba was born a week after my beautiful old boy Beau (a palouse pony who was 30, and was my harness pony and lesson pony) passed away.

Georgia and Tia got to name the new foal - and they chose Beau as a name. I was struggling calling him Beau, so was calling him Baby Beau, and it eventually got shortened to Baba.

Kaye Butler, from Callington SA, bought this lad as she wanted a Cleveland Bay Sporthorse and I wouldnt part with Bill!   One of his sons would have to do!     Thanks to Bill and Baba stealing her heart - she now has a collection of Bill babies in her paddocks and to be in the eventing team down the track!

Bloss is a bit special - she is possibly the last filly by Bill out of Ceilidh - and it is agonizing to think about her going off to a new home.    I do have to weigh up the pros and cons though and my desire to see her out there flying the flag for the stud and for Cleveland Bay Sporthorses in general is greater than my own selfish reasons for wanting to keep her!

Started under saddle beautifully by Margaret Hosking from Pine Country Sporthorses, who purchased her from me, she has been sold to the Rowlands family in Adelaide and is doing brilliantly with her young rider, Mia.     Best of luck for the future and we look forward to loads of updates!

Bibi has always been a favourite since she hit the ground.     She gets her name because she was born pretty much into a little sticky, twiggy style tree, and spent her first few hours, despite being guided away from trees, trying to climb them, and then the next few months playing with whatever tree she could get her teeth or hooves on.   She has grown beaufiully and is now with Steph Cooper of Coopers Park Performance Horses at Glencoe, South Australia.     She has a bright future ahead of her in just about every competition arena you can imagine.    Stephs horses are true all rounders!

2000 Foaling

Though I had raised young horses and hand raised orphans in the past - 2000 was the year that the first foal I specifically bred for myself was born.

Pine Country Ariella

(later known as CM Astras Ariella)

Sire:  Sandgate Reznor (Cleveland Bay x (CB x Holsteiner x TB)

Dam: Astra (Clydie x TB)

DOB: 15th December 2000

Bay Filly

"Ellie" was my baby...  She was the first foal I had specifically bred for myself as I was sick and tired of not being able to find a suitable big, sane, sensible, sound horse that was big boned, athletic and easy going.

She travelled from the Eyre Peninsula to New South Wales with me and back again, sadly to break her jaw in a freak accident and had to be put to sleep.

She was just 4 and a half years old at the time, I had ridden her a couple of times and she was exactly as I had hoped she would come up.

She competed at the Royal Adelaide Show in the WB class against her two half sisters - Pine Country Peppers Anna and Wuthering Heights (Bronte - now in my herd), and her older half sister Pine Country Shania (full sister to Peppers Anna) was there too with her breeders and owner of the sire of all four, Les & Margaret Hosking of Pine Country Sporthorses, Whyalla SA.

Owner:   Jenny Baker, Victoria

Registered With:

Destined for a future in Dressage with his lovely owner Jenny, who I met when she came to see Monster but decided against him - he wasnt going to suit what she wanted, and so I suggested Heath, who at that point was still very much a baby and just over a year old I think.

He is just coming up 3 yrs old now and is doing brilliantly, growing like the proverbial weed, however instead of a weed, more like a massive gum tree... He is going to be a very solid boy and is already just on 16hh.    Given that the Clevies take til they are about 8 to finish growing - hes got quite a way to go!

If you head to Wuthering Heights page on the Menu for the site, you will see a photo of Heath at Christmas time, 2019.

Zoomy Zeus as we call him is completely adorable!     Before anyone messages me to let me know about the 'mistake' - YES we know that Zeus is actually Hercules father in Greek Mythology.....  however it just suits him, and well, we do things a bit backwards at times!

He gets his full name because my brain is strange and went from someone saying 'hes got legs and knows how to use them' on one of his photos on Facebook, and I thought of ZZ Top, I already had Zeus in mind for a name and thought 'hmmm ZZ Top - ZZ - Zoomy Zeus'...

With Zeus being the god of Thunder and Lightning - as all Queen fans know - Thunder bolts and lightning - very very frightning.....  so it had to be Reigate Bohemian Rhapsody!

There seems to be a theme here with the song names with the little ones I am having born...

Zeus is rather adorable, rather friendly and a complete little champion!

Reigate Ruby Tuesday

DOB: 13th October 2015

Sire: Wildwinds Super Star - BJ - Very Dark Bay (almost black) & White

Dam: Saffy - Little Tobiano Midget Pony - Black & White

Owner: Leonie Treloar, Mount Gambier, SA (Sarahs mum!)

As Saffy was named because of her gorgeous sapphire blue eye, we decided to stick with the gemstone them, and as her gorgeous little filly is a nice red bay - we decided that Ruby was the ideal paddock name for her.

I chose Reigate Ruby Tuesday as a name to register her with as I love the Rolling Stones, and she was born on a Tuesday!     It just all fell into place!

Ruby is so tiny - standing about 15 or 16 inches at birth and basically the size of our gorgeous Kelpie, Tessa!     She is certainly lighter in weight than Tess.

Watching this one grow is going to be a lot of fun!    She is so tiny still nd looks like remaining that way which is not an overly bad thing!    I love her to bits, and her winter coat is all fluff (and mud!)...  loves being a grot!!

"Mandy" was born on the morning of the day that Mandy and Tia were heading back to SA after a three day trip to visit us.     It was also Mandys birthday - so once it was determined that this was indeed a filly - there was no other paddock name she could have had!

She is a filly who is 9 years in the making....  from the time I met Roc On and had him come down to me in October 2006, I have wanted a foal from him to keep for myself, and preferably out of one of Bills daughters and a filly.      I could nto have placed a more perfect order!    Sadly my health forced me to offer her for sale and could not have found a more perfect home with Vicki, who owns CM Dolan Kearney (out of Killarnie Ceilidh) - so she now has TWO of the babies I have bred in her herd!

It was something special to have her born - after watching her dam, Wings, born back in 2008 on the 3rd of December, and to see her create her own beautiful filly was wonderful.   Mandy is a full sibling to Bailey (SHS Mighty Roc), who Christine Stone at Stonehaven Sporthorses, Yankalilla, SA has - along with her sire, Roc On.

Reigate Cats In The Cradle

DOB: 8th October 2015

Sire: Arapaho Chief Bearheart - Black Buckskin Tobiano Shetland Pony

Dam: Molly - Black Tobiano Small Shetland

Owner:  Candice Burville, VIC

Felix is an awesome little colt - who in all honesty, was not so 'little' at birth given the size of sire and dam!      He has gone off to a great home with Candice and her family.

He is growing beautifully and we couldnt be happier with him.

He is the exact reason that being there when foals are born is necessary - he got stuck at the shoulders coming out - we had to reposition him and then give him an extra help in the way of pulling him as well.    His sac was extremely thick and I severely doubt he could have opened it on his own - had we not been there - he and Molly may well have been lost.

Tinkerbelle (Squishy)

DOB: 1st September 2015

Sire: Arapaho Chief Bearheart - Black Buckskin Tobiano Shetland Pony

Dam: Arabella - Black Tobiano Shetland

Owner: Joanne Hutt, Eyre Peninsula, SA

Arabella, was purchased as a potential childs pony for Joanne and Jason Hutts kids over on the Eyre Peninsula.      Jo and I have been joking that the ponies came with a 'free set of steak knives' as both Molly and Arabella are in foal.       We did bandy around the idea of naming the foals after expensive cutlery brands...

It was decided that it was safer for Arabella to foal down here at Dartmoor rather than do the big trip back over to the Eyre Peninsula so close to foaling and with not knowing her history, any issues she may have, her exact due date (only within a couple of months time frame) and with Jo and Jase living so far away from Equine vets.... whereas we are only 50km from wonderful horse vets if the need arose.

So Tinkerbelle was born on the 1st of September - and had been called 'Squishy' before she was born - as we were so keen to have a little 'squishy bug' around the place.      Instead of refering to her as Tinks or Tinkerbelle - Squishy seems to have stuck as a paddock name!    Sorry Jo!   She will be here for a few more months before heading over to Jo along with her mum, Arabella.

Squishy is full of spunk and determination and is the sweetest little filly - who is not so little these days.    She towers above Saffy and is almost as big as her dear mum Arree.    Jo, Jase and the kids are going to love her!

DOB: 18/07/2015

AWSHA - Warmblood Sporthorse (37.5% CB, 50% WB)

37.5% Cleveland Bay, 12.5% Thoroughbred, 50% Warmblood

This colt was a major surprise for his owner.     Having sold Flirt to Carli about 9 or 10 months prior, with nothing but positive reports on Flirts progress with Carli and those around her, no one even gave it a thought that Flirty would have been in foal!      Almost 12 months prior, we had gone to deliver two horses to SA and had a phone call from the neighbours who had Bill and Flirt turn up in their driveway and had locked them in their paddock.     We sorted them out when we got home and separated them and didnt really give it another thought.

Casey (where Flirt is agisted) and Carli are pretty happy with the young fella by the sounds of things!     We will bring you his proper name and paddock name when it has been decided!

Though born half way through 2015 - he is a 2014 foal with the way things work.

Bella is going to be positively enormous.     Her dam, Dixie, was one of my favourite visiting mares in 2013 to run with Bill.

She is the third foal by Billara Beersheba that Kaye has in her herd - with another couple to come in the 2015 foaling season too.    I get the impression that she likes the boy!

Kaye is looking at this girl being an eventer in the future and we are all very excited to see how she goes.     She is a lovely athletic filly and is sensible - Kaye even named her after Bill and me (Shell).

Raised by: Reigate Stud & Tracey Dodd

Owned By:   Joy Salter, Burra, South Australia - Joy calls him Monty

Monsters entrance to the world was less than conventional.     His gorgeous mum, Phoebe, was bitten by a snake a few hours before his birth and despite antivenom and fabulous treatment by the wonderful Rebel from Gambier Vets, she was not responding and we had to make 'that' decision.

At least we were able to give her foal a chance by delivering it via C-Section - it was due in 3 weeks time so not outside the viable timeframe.

The boys arrival was bitter-sweet, but wow, what a colt!     An enormous fellow at birth - he is growing beautifully and could not be any more perfect for what we were expecting to get from the pairing.

This gorgeous fellow has been sold to Joy Salter, of Burra, South Australia.    She is a  lovely lady I have known and admired for at least 30 years, a great rider and is looking to event the lad as he gains experience with training at home and lessons.

Nathan is a very proud 'daddy' - with Odin being his first horse of his own.   He and fiance Bianca Payne have two other horses.   Bianca has had Josh for years and then in 2011 when Ceilidh was expecting a foal by Billara Beersheba - Bianca put 'dibs' on it - and that is how she got to have CM Ciarra Ashlinn in her paddock!

In July 2014, with us moving to Dartmoor - we delivered Ceilidh over to SA to Jenny, Bianca and Nathan for them to look after, get to know, and for them to foal her down.

Odin is pretty awesome - he is, in Biancas words, an 'annoying jerkface' - which is apparently what Nathan is - so they are a perfect match!

He was to be the first one by Roc On to carry the Reigate prefix and was to finally be one for me to keep for myself.   However; after Christines mare aborted her foal by Summerlee Figaro and having that return service up her sleeve, it was decided that she would take Wings home with her earlier in the year, and foal her down and this foal would be hers.

Mady is a wonderful young lady who was working with me for a good 18 months or so - and we had tried to get her lovely old mare Penny in foal to Bill two seasons in a row, and with no results.      It was determined that Penny was likely unable to conceive, which was extremely disappointing for all involved.

Mady went off to college - Penny went back to her breeder and months later popped out this rather handsome colt!     Mady was so excited, as were we and are just so thrilled that she got her Bill x Penny baby after all!

She has named him Euro as a paddock name - and we will update when we have a registered name to share with you.

We are looking forward to seeing him and Mady out and about!

Figjam was born in the care of Bec Drury who owns his dam, CM Commanding Miss.     He was weaned, came to Victoria and was thrown in the deep end and taken to the Royal Melbourne Horse Show in January 2014.

He came home with 6th in the Best Presented Cleveland Bay Sporthorse, at 5 months old and being the only baby in amongst the rest of the lineup who were all adult horses, we were pretty pleased.

He received a 2nd in the Led Cleveland Bay Sporthorse Stallion or Colt (with his grandsire, Billara Beersheba winning that one) and was an extremely chilled out fellow the entire day and through the trip.

He returned to SA with his owner, Nicole Starkey, who was at the time our rider, and is to be Nicoles next Dressage superstar in the future!    It will be fabulous to see him progress with her, she is a lovely rider, and after having the opportunity to ride the Reigate CB&SH Stud stallions, she fell in love with the breed, Summerlee Figaro in particular, and of course Figjam.

Flossy is the second of the two foals by Figaro that we were lucky enough to breed, and she is such a precious filly.   I was torn between keeping Floss and parting with her - she is the only connection with Figaro that I have, and is the ideal mix of her sire and dam, and of course of my 'two boys' - Figaro and Bill...     However, the perfect home came along for her and she is now with Margaret & Les Hosking of Pine Country Sporthorses in Whyalla, South Australia.

Her dam is owned by Joanne Hutt at Wudinna, and has been gently started under saddle, however we are in need of a rider to take her further at this stage.

Sold Prior To Conception to Kaye Butler, Callington SA

Now in Tasmania.

Brynne was a 'pre ordered' foal - with Kaye Butler, whose first Bill Baby was Reigate Beausoleil, deciding she would like two of them (ok so she now has more than that!) because she liked Bill so much and what he is producing...

Montica is a beautiful mare, a little opinionated at times, but generally a very sweet girl - and has passed her fabulous conformation and a good mix of hers and Bills temperaments along to her filly.

Brynne is beautifully put together and is certainly a head turner and when she starts getting out - I am guessing that the most heard comment will be 'Wow!'   The mating will be repeated down the track.
